The monitoring of the three reinforcement sites of Colombaia, Isola Lunga and Ronciglio has been carried out. Compared to the previous monitoring, there was an increase in mortality in all sites due to the extreme drought events that occurred in August and September. However, after the first autumn rain a slight improvement in the health conditions of the plants has been noticed. At Isola Lunga, a high increase in the mortality rate was detected, and currently only 6% of the 250 plants planted have survived. The few surviving plants show signs of damage caused by the rodent colony present at the site and none of them is in bloom or has produced seeds. As regards Colombaia, a survival rate of 20% was found for the plants planted in 2020 and of 25% for those placed in 2021. In this site, however, the surviving plants are very healthy, and respectively 100% (2020) and 40% (2021) are already in bloom and 40% (2020) and 2.5% (2021) are in fruit. Finally, at the Ronciglio site 20% of the plants have survived and are still in good health, in fact 62% are in bloom and 5% are in fruit. Unfortunately, none of the plants used in the renaturation of the salt pan has survived.
