Monitoring survey of the reinforcement activity of Isola Lunga

The first monitoring survey of the reinforcement activity of Isola Lunga was carried out. Unexpectedly, a particularly low survival rate (about 40% of the 250 introduced seedlings) was recorded. These results are almost certainly linked to the heavy disturbance due to the grazing activity of a local colony of feral rabbits, whose size was underestimated in the preliminary phase.  The observed impact of feral rabbits may explain the remarkable shrinkage of local population of Calendula maritima compared with the data from literature.
