The first monitoring survey of the new populations at Salina Calcara

The first monitoring survey of the two new populations planted last february at Salina Calcara was carried out. The reintroduction of 178 new young seedlings bodes well, as evidenced by the high survival rate (99%) one month after transplantation. Some plants (4%) show evident signs of stress, while two seedlings with buds about to bloom and two with ripening fruit have already been found.

Regarding the two populations planted in February 2020, the survival rate one year after reintroduction is about 65%, currently 100% of the surviving plants are in full bloom with a good production of flower buds and ripening fruit, and more than 40 new seedlings have been found originating from natural dissemination, of which a couple is already flowering.
