The first monitoring survey of the new population planted last February at Cala Pozzo was carried out. The reintroduction of 150 new seedlings appears successful even if the survival ratetwo months after reintroduction is68%, hence significantly lower than tthe values recorded in the Calcara site. The lower survival rate is probably due to the violent storm surges that washed a considerable quantity of seagrass (Posidonia oceanica) leaves that buried many young seedlings causing their death. Some plants (4%) show evident signs of stress, while 5 seedlings have already been found with buds about to bloom and one already in bloom.
Regarding the two nuclei planted in February 2020, the survival rate one year after reintroduction is about 63% and currently 100% of the surviving plants are in full bloom with a high number of flower buds, 73 % bears ripening fruits, and several new seedlings originating from natural dissemination have been found.
