The monitoring survey of the two new populations at Salina Calcara and Cala Pozzo was carried out. Seven months after plantation, the survival rate dropped but still remains high, respectively 72% and 45%. Despite the extreme climatic events experienced during the summer season, most of the established plants of the two new stands are healthy; in fact, respectively 17% and 30% of them are in bloom and 10% and 26% are in fruit.
Regarding the populations planted in February 2020 at Salina Calcara and Cala Pozzo, due to the prolonged period of summer stress, the survival rate between the two observation periods varied quite significantly, but still remained satisfactory, especially considering that these plants have already survived to two critical summer seasons. In particular, survival rates have decreased slightly and are standing at 57% and 56%, respectively, and the plants are currently performing a full post-summer vegetative recovery, with 77% and 90% of them in bloom and 46% and 90% in fruit. Very positive and promising for the future survival of the species in the fact that many seedlings originating from seeds were found in both stands, and some of them have already produced flowers and fruits.
